Christmas Postal Strike Yup, you all heard me…. I will pledge my support for the Postal Workers strike by refraining to send explosives through the mail for the duration of the strike. God only knows that they will need support for tasks such as explaining to their own kids why Santa will be late this year. “Sorry son, Santa couldn’t come this year because daddy is a self-serving wanker asshole who stupidly believes he can hold a country to ransom for a pitiful pay rise because he can deliver mail across states in Australia sometimes in less than a week!”

Whatever happened to the term “work ethic”??? Have we become a people such as an average 16yo in their first job expecting to become millionaires in a year for achieving the minimum possible results? Well guess what guys…. if the government ever grows some balls, YOU’RE STUFFED!!!!! Remember Joh Bjelke-Petersen and the power strike in Queensland? How many striking power workers did he sack with a flourish of a finger? Electrifying moments ….. should be more of it.

For the Postal Workers – way to go to improve your already tarnished public image. Tip – people get positive recognition for doing a good job, showing positive results, NOT for being BOTTOM FEEDERS!!!!!

Ahhh… the days of  hurtling down the Newel hwy at 140kph (a reasonable speed in my mind) on my old kawasaki 1100cc are over. Why??? Damn politicians trying to spend their budget on a plane with a guy inside with a stopwatch???? I defy anyone in a plane to get an accurate reading of my speed from more than a kilometer away, armed only with a stopwatch and a painted line on the road!! One would think that with all the money the police collect, they could come up with some better technology than repeating a failed effort from the eighties!!

With all the new roadworks courtesy of President Krudd and the Sisters of Doom, one would think that some of the roads would be capable of handling vehicles at 140kph or there_abouts…. or would that suck money from our beloved govts pocket??? What proof is there that lower speeds (under nominal conditions and on decent roads) actually saves lives?… If a study has been done, what proof is there that the speed (140kph) was actually responsible for death, damage or injury? (As opposed to hooning).

I’m bored, we need to change the look…

When I was offer to write on this blog I was told I could write about anything I wanted. My life is a little too boring to be written about, however my Second Life… that is a compliantly different story.

For you who is not a real gamer and don’t know about Second Life, or SL (as we residents call it) I’ll give you a short brief.

Define Second Life is a hard thing to do. The most accurate definition might be an online multi-player game even that some residents get offended if you call it like that. Call it a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) is not right too cause Role-Play is not mandatory, even that is very “fashionable” at SL right now. I like the describe that says “it is a 3D representation of the internet” even that is so vague that requires an explanation itself.  Or they call it metaverse, with is no explanation at all. Any way, if you ever get on SL don’t call it The Sims Online and you will be safe.

Truth is Second Life is a place you can be who ever you want, in any way you want. To be on SL you need to make you avatar, that is your representation of yourself in word, or in non SL language: your doll on the game. That by itself is a exposure of your personality. Seems easy to do, but the options are way beyond imaginable, is not just about how tall you are, you can be human, demon, angel, fairy, furry, neko, vampire, animal and what else you can think of.

Other really cool thing about Second Life is that you can build anything, as long as you have enough prims (prims are the SL blocks that you build stuff with, in a very basic description). Prims are limited by the terrain you’re in.

But the best and the worst about Second Life is the people. I’ve meet people from all over the word sitting in my chair in Brazil. Friends in America, Australia, Canada, France, England, Portugal and goes on. People keep it interesing, you make friends that get as dear to you as friends you see in real life. And, sometimes, you ca get involved in dramas so tense that keep you from sleep at night.

Even that you are not a gamer, SL is one of the things you need to taste, even if is to say that you hated it!

I’ll keep you posted with what is happening on the metaverse.

See you then.

tuross_exchangeBigpond… Oh I so love them! Brief history

  • 4 ordernumbers (they ‘lost’ them and 2 months to connect to an existing telephone line
  • Roughly 15 times more expensive than any other country I have lived in
  • 3 broken modems in 8 months
  • Most recently, ‘unable’ to provide support to access apache stating that their responsibility ends with connecting me to the internet and they could connect me to the ‘advanced’ service for a fee of $80.
  • Most common phrase heard by customer service staff  – “I’m sorry”

Why does this company still exist??? I remember many years ago when cinema tickets started creeping up, the government investigated and set a max price for tickets some $2 lower. Where is the government now??? Oh yeah, they SUPPORT bigpond. I’d be interested to know how many complaints they get a day…
